Fun Mail Day

I got a package in the mail :) I have 4 sets of jelly rolls that I wanted to do something with. What I wasn't sure. Ok I'm pretty sure for one of the sets the black and white one but I saw these in a magazine awhile back and I saw surfing Marti Mitchell's website for this book. Since I figured it could work as far as patterns for Inklingo and the template set I have .

But about all I've done today was embroider a denim shirt with a nice shamrock, and a half dozen dish towels for the Masonic Lodge for hubby. And sleep, I threw my back out on Saturday reaching for something on the floor by my chair while working on Cathedral windows and poof I was in serious pain. This morning I went to drs and got some muscle relaxants and promptly took some with food and went back to bed. When I get up for a few minutes I had a towel running and I'd go back to bed. I worked on my laptop with deleting and adding programs and went back to bed....see a pattern here?

But just sitting here typing is killing me so it's time for a snack and more meds and I'm going back to bed. I promise when I can sit long enough, I'll visit all the blogs that commented this weekend......till then don't have too much fun without me :)

It's been snowing in NJ

We shoveled a few times today. Watched movies, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, Braveheart, etc. I worked on Cathedral Windows. Will that project ever be complete???
I think we got a foot so far and now the ice is starting. Good thing we told DD she couldn't go out to her boyfriend's house as there's a 20 car pile up on the only highway to get there over a scarey bridge. You know the high ones with High Cross Wind warnings on them.......

I'm not losing my mind after all :)

I found them or I found 20 of them. Which is fine. I'll make it 4 x 6 and add wide borders. This is half a quilt's layout. Scrappy red/white and blue.

So the next time I can't find blocks, they're in the bottom 2 drawers of the rolling 7 drawer bins :). The quilt along blocks and ocean waves are there now.

I managed to get 7 blocks of color 10 done today also. We're moving right along with that. DD wants to lay out the blocks tonight to work with the backgrounds values as some are wows and some are coc's. If I can do that every other day and sew the rows together.....I might be able to start dyeing border fabric also GASP!!! What a concept. I may get done early. Be still my heart :)

For my leader/ender part of the quilt , cause I always need to do that, I'm working on the 16 patches for Patches and Pinwheels from Quiltville

Is it really Monday???

Remember the cute Valentine's Day wall hanging I made from Freda's Hive???? What I didn't know at the time, that if you sent a pic of the completed wall hanging she would send you another pattern. Very cool. Well this morning in the middle of my melt down ( read below) the mail came and look what I got!!!! I do believe I'm going to try the umbrella one first. I'm afraid if I make a snowman it will snow here :P

Now I know I needed 5 more of these blocks to make a quilt for a wounded soilder in my hometown. I was figuring 30 blocks and wide borders. I had them out, I counted them a few days ago and started pulling fabrics.

So today I finally decide to finish the hsts I need to make the broken dishes and get the last 5 blocks made. I'm on a roll. But now I can't find the other 25 blocks???????? I was about to really lose it. But went onto the Girl Scout quilt blocks and managed to finish color 9 !!!!! That means that I'm going to start the last color tomorrow !!! Yippee!!!!

stashbusting report

2 fqs came in last week for the QAL blocks. I still need to finish cutting sashing for the blocks and get it pieced. Nancy said I was safe as I didn't go over a yard :)

I finished the Carolina Crossroads top :) I'm very happy with it and can't wait to get it quilted.

I also finished the Grandma Cora top. That one is being mailed to Mel to practice her feathers on *VBG*

I've been playing with the Viking and put Ethel up for a well deserved rest. Poor gal has been the main piecing machine as I just didn't get the 1/4" seam on the Viking. But yesterday I called one of my friends in VA to help talk her through the feather points of the feathered star we're paper piecing and she has the same machine and was a huge help!!! So now I know what to do when it's beeping at me :) and more importantly why. But I got the top row done of my star and I need to finish putting the other two rows of parts together tomorrow or maybe Tuesday.

I have a bunch of Ocean Wave parts that need to be trimmed to piece more blocks- we're stuck at 32 I think .

Everyone is home tomorrow so I doubt much of the sewing will get done.....
Enjoy the day if you're off

Guess What????

Though I'm probably one of the last ones, I finally finished my Carolina Crossroad's top today :) Another insane, lots of pieces top finished. I should call and check on Mr Juki and see if he's ready to come home. I want to look for a nice varigated thread and get it quilted. Have to buy some wide backing for GMa Cora and ship that out this week. I'm so excited.

Some of my online friends are going to make a feathered star like the one in my profile :) I promised someone one last year for knitted socks - so now that I have a pretty blue, It's time to do it again.
If you have Quilter's Newsletter from 12/05 they had the pattern there and they have the points paperpieced online in their web bonuses.

no school for us today :)

Last night I got an email from Susan Schrott to read her blog about my guild :)
Here's the link if you're interested :) Susan's Blog. One of , if not the best class I've taken in a very long time. She was so funny.

Lookie what I got in the mail this morning. I trudged out to the mailbox in the slush and sleet to get the mail and surprise. Now I could have ran inside and opened it up and got nothing else done today but..........

I had already put two of the borders on G'Ma Cora and was determined to get the other two on BEFORE I opened it up to read. It comes in a manilla envelope so I couldn't even peek *VBG*

So for now, I'm going to relax and read the mag.

Amanda Jean's Quilt Along BLocks final week

I finally finished the last of the quilt along blocks. I need to lay them out tomorrow and play with the placement. This week Amanda Jean was showing sashing etc. I'm not big on that so I might just sew the blocks together. I have 30 ( I think).
I need to get back to G'Ma Cora and get the final borders on it.

For Jeannie and anyone else that couldn't read the Guild's Speaker page, I'll list them either late tonight or tomorrow. It doesn't seem to work with Firefox or Mozilla. Why? We don't know and some people that have those browsers can see it and some can't. Of course until I get the non profit paperwork from the Board, it's staying that way as I'm not spending $700 on a webpage program out of my pocket :P
The bitties didn't even want the page, hubby bought it for them for 2 years and now they're belly aching they can't read it if they have Firefox - heavy sigh.....

For Jeannie - Trees of Life with Susan Schrott

Mine is the blue one on the right, middle row. You know the one different in the roots than everyone else's. Susan Schrott was an EXCELLENT speaker and a wonderful teacher. If your guild can book her DO IT!!!
She had lots and lots of tips for quilting and making the tree....I want to do another one very soon. My friend Katie and Barb had great tree also. Barb's was African fabrics amazing. Katie's was soft pastels, very girly, but she loves that stuff:). It's the one thing that keeps me sane with my guild, the excellent speakers we get. I think we have art type quilts the rest of the year,. I plan on taking the May class and going to both lechures. Here's our year of speakers with links. Sorry I had the wrong link- but all fixed now :)

Total Goof Off Day

I found this great Heart Banner pattern a few weeks ago.
And needed something to do today and decided to make it. I kinda like it. Though I'm using it as a wallhanging not a banner.

I'm still working on other "stuff" but not really doing anything I'm supposed to.
Just not in the mood for "serious" sewing at the moment and needed something to cheer me up. All I have to do is sew the sewing sleeve down and hang it.

7 random things about me

Paula, at Coffeetime Quilt Studios has tagged me for a meme about myself. So here's the deal,

The rules of the meme are:
1. When tagged, place the name of the person and URL on your blog
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Write 7 things about yourself
4. Name 7 of your favorite weblogs
5. Send an e-mail letting those bloggers know they have been tagged

Seven Random things about me,

1: I'm a goofoff. I don't work. I'm able ( for now) to stay home and play with fabric and volunteer. I'm First Vice President of my guild, The Brownstone Quilers.

2: I'm a Girl Scout leader. This is my 13th year of being a leader and sadly my last. When I moved to Mahwah, 10 years ago, I had two Brownie troops. One in Mahwah and one in Hawthorne as we registered the girls not knowing we were going to buy a house during the summer and move.

3: I'm the oldest and (least mature :P) of three siblings. I have a younger sister and a younger brother. I'm very close to my brother. My sister is someone I love but can't tolerate for long periods of time.

4: Unlike Paula, I'm a Yankees fan. A die hard Yankees fan. With the exception of Vertiteck ( who I adore ) I hate those Red Sox :p~~~~~~. But it makes for a great series each year :) I'm really not into other sports. But will watch the Mets if the Yanks aren't on. Their third baseman, David Wright, is so cute :)

5:I have a best friend that I met in kidergarten in 1967. Who means the world to me.

6: In 2002 I was diagnosed with stage 2 thyroid cancer. For 4 years I couldn't get a clean bill of health and went through the maximum amount of ablaztion treatments I could w/o starting radiation. And then suddently, it was gone (knock wood).

7:I have quilter's A.D.D. seriously. I have multple insane projects going on at the same time. Carolina Crossroads, G'Ma Cora and Ocean Waves all at the same time. Let's not forget the hand pieced 30's Cathedral Windows I have going also. It seems I need a challenge or I get bored quickly.

My Favorite Weblogs

This going to be tough as if you see my links I have lots

1 Quiltville 's Blog
2 Tonya's Lazy Girl Quilting

3 Gypsy Quilt Designs
4 Ree's Pages on Pioneer Woman's Blog

5 The stashBuster's webring so I can check all my fav blogs :)

6 Finn's Piece's of my Scrapbag
7 Hubby's Website The Gardening Guru

I'm not going to tag anyone personally but if you read this and want to do your own meme that would be great. With the You Make my Day awards we kept getting tagged over and over. Paula thanks for tagging me.

The End is in Site

I've been sewing like a maniac the last week or so. Haven't touch Carolina Crossroads :( but I did manage to get the rows finished for Grandma Cora. Just need to cut and sew the outer borders and get it mailed for quilting. I have alot of ocean wave blocks finished- I believe it's 37 of 64. This weekend I have a class with Susan Schrott and a guild meeting almost all day tomorrow -and I need to get the agenda typed, printed and emailed to my secretary. Plus pack all "stuff" for the meeting in my truck, which wouldn't start this morning. Good thing hubby was home and charged the battery for me. What a guy VBG.

Here's some of the cute fabrics in it :)

So that's my day. :)

Tuesday afternoon

Sorry no pics today :(
But I made a ton of progress on the Grandma Cora quilt. I just may see a top by Sunday. *Snoopy dancing *
I have almost all of the three large triangles for the sides done. A few more rows to piece and sew together and then sew the triangles onto the top. The borders will wait till I can lay it out Sunday night.
The ocean waves is moving along nicely also. I now have 30 blocks done and I trimmed over 200 more hsts this afternoon. Tomorrow I'll cut some more fabric for the wondercut ruler and make some different color combos for variety. I'm so loving this quilt process.
Tonight is a Girl Scouts leader meeting so I'll even get to work on my cathedral windows.
Hubby ordered me a new foot for the Viking sewing machine and by George it works. Now if I can remember what I do each time to stop the beeping of the machine when I try to sew I'd have it made.
Today was the ticker tape parade for the Giants in NYC and at the time of the parade to start, it started thundering with wicked lightening and it poured-lol. It means that God is a Patriots fan :)

For Jasper

DD's cat, Cyd Vicous

The newest kitty, Nancy.

Blog Reading always gets me in trouble :)

Usually when I read blogs I click on all kinds of things from Amazon links to pattern links. And ALOT of the time I order much to hubby's dismay. But I'm creating a great collection of books and toys.
The other night I saw some cute shelf sitters of sewing stuff I saw on someone's blog- funny the person who's blog I was reading ordered them also because she saw them on a blog and it's like the Herbal Essence Commercial and they told to friends and so on and so on.

This morning reading Mark 's blog I saw this quilt and then spent 40 minutes in EQ redrawing it for the millions of pinwheels I have :). So far today I haven't ordered anything, but it's early in the day. ;)

Stashbusting Report 2/03/08

No new fabric came in the door and I used 2 yards of hand dyed reds to wrap a very late Christmas present :p
I'm piecing my Carolina Crossroads top together this week. I have almost half done today and need to pack it up. I have 25 Ocean Waves blocks made of 64 - that is very exciting to me :) I so want this quilt to be ready for the summer.
Grandma Cora is coming along nicely. I have 1 of 4 corners done and BIG parts of the other 3 done.
So I guess I'm down 2 yards of fabric and that it for my week. None came in - better than nothing I guess :)

Debi's
doing a give away of sorts-a blog wide giveaway. I'll have to catch up with my 100th post give away and think of something to join in :)
Also, remember in Dec when SEWMAMASEWdid all those nifty gifts for the holidays? Feb is quilt month there- check them out :)

Are you Ready for some Football??????

I know Paula is ;)

I'd love to see the Pats win for the perfect record- but lets face it, it's been done before by Miami. And it doesn't matter that the Pats played more games for the season, it's still the second perfect season (if they win-sorry) THe men of the house are geared up. I'm ready for some serious Cathedral Window sewing and the commercials :) ( my fav part of the game)
I have to go make 48 deviled eggs . Bleck, I hate them but I was asked to make them.

I managed to get 2 more ocean waves done yesterday and a few more rows of the G'Ma Cora quilt sewn. I'll be clenaing that all up for the weekend and finish my quilt along blocks and play with the layout now that all the blocks have been posted :)

So enjoy the game or the Bargello Bowl with Bonnie if that's what you're doing.

Is anyone else having problems with replies going to their spam box????

A New Month

No photos tonight :( Been sewing like a mad woman. Usually Friday is margarita night but not tonight. Some of us are going out Tuesday for a friend's bday :)

I have 23 Ocean Wave blocks done 41 to go. Wow just last week I needed 60....

I got one of four sides done on the Grandma Cora Quilt. Instead of doing just one side at a time, I'm going to do the three remaining sides at the same time. Some are made already and just need the side triangles on and attached to the previous row. I want to finish this quilt and get the borders on it and send it to Texas :P for Mel to quilt, eventually. Then I need to sew the rows of the Carolina Crossroads together for when mr juki returns from the machine hospital.

I see alot of quilters are going to play with Bonnie and Bargello Tops Sunday. Not this time for me :( I have 4 quilts for me going now and I need to finish the last 2 colors for the Girl Scout quilts by the end of Feb and start piecing tops.
So Sunday I'll be working on my Cathedral Windows.

Tomorrow won't be too much sewing as we're getting our taxes done in the afternoon. I might get 2 rows done in the three sides of the G'Ma Cora quilt if I'm lucky.....

Enjoy your weekend :)
