Grandma Cora Finished

Last night at our guild's quilt group I started the binding on Grandma Cora. I intended to finish it during the All Star game. Hell if I had the other quilt trimmed and binding made I probably could have finished that one too :P. Now when the Yankees and Red Sox play it's usally close to 4 hours - but 4 hours and 50 minutes??? I fell asleep in the 14th inning. But the AL wins again-woo hoo!

And this goofy cat sleeps in the center of the quilt on the bed.Like it was made for her.....

I finished the mystery top minus borders this evening- well actually the last row is made and I ran out of bobbins and don't feel like making them tonight so it will be for first thing tomorrow and then I need to go fix the tulip backing and finish that one for before I leave on vacation. I'd love to bind the pineapple blossom and get that ready for my sil for a graduation present. Thanks all for the input on that.

Yesterday I gave Simply Squares to the teen turning 16 Monday as I won't see her again. And she cried -lol. Hormonal girls crack me up.
Love quilt is in the mail. 3 finishes in about a week- life is good here *VBG*

no school for us today :)

Last night I got an email from Susan Schrott to read her blog about my guild :)
Here's the link if you're interested :) Susan's Blog. One of , if not the best class I've taken in a very long time. She was so funny.

Lookie what I got in the mail this morning. I trudged out to the mailbox in the slush and sleet to get the mail and surprise. Now I could have ran inside and opened it up and got nothing else done today but..........

I had already put two of the borders on G'Ma Cora and was determined to get the other two on BEFORE I opened it up to read. It comes in a manilla envelope so I couldn't even peek *VBG*

So for now, I'm going to relax and read the mag.

The End is in Site

I've been sewing like a maniac the last week or so. Haven't touch Carolina Crossroads :( but I did manage to get the rows finished for Grandma Cora. Just need to cut and sew the outer borders and get it mailed for quilting. I have alot of ocean wave blocks finished- I believe it's 37 of 64. This weekend I have a class with Susan Schrott and a guild meeting almost all day tomorrow -and I need to get the agenda typed, printed and emailed to my secretary. Plus pack all "stuff" for the meeting in my truck, which wouldn't start this morning. Good thing hubby was home and charged the battery for me. What a guy VBG.

Here's some of the cute fabrics in it :)

So that's my day. :)

Grandma Cora Quilt from Hell

Ok I still have a ripple :( Hopefully the next border qill work that out. One can hope. But it's MUCH better than the last pic. Now to add another dark blue border and the corners and last dark blue border.

When this is making me totally nuts I go work on my part 5 of Carolina Crossroads. I have about 20 of the 100 pieces done *yippee*

Hopefully tonight after DS and I play with my new toy *VBG* wait till you see what it is......I'll get to dye some fabric. I owe some fqs out and I need some for another "thing"

Happy New Years!

Instead of doing Ann's mystery yesterday I worked on g'ma cora again. It's not working out in the sizing no matter what I do. I measure the seams ( all a scant 1/4" ) and it's not the size it should be. It will be a little wavey ( sorry Mel) but I hope the next section will work out better. ALl along I kept saying it could be done a different way and would you know that Gypsy Quilter is doing it the way I thought it should have been done. Her colors are amazing.

Hubby and I had a nice quiet evening last night watching the Twilight Zone marathon VBG- then the teens came home about 1:30 from their concert. All was well- no crowd surfing only a mosh pit at this venue they went too -yeah!!! Then I had 4 teens stay the night. I should have taken a pic of them when they all passed out about 3 AM
all snuggled in quilts on the floor -couch and chairs. I counted 10 as I folded them this morning while they had bagels for breakfast. I was up till well after 4 cleaning up fabric etc for the table to be used for breakfast. All those little squares and trimming pieces.

Isn't she sweet? such a load motor for such a small thing - I've gotten a few emails of the names- Cyd Vicious was spelled Sid Vicious and was the singer of the Sex Pistols a punk band of the 80's- Nancy was his girlfriend. DD thought that Cyd was a boy when she first arrived- surprise -surprise so we changed the spelling of the name. While she ( Nancy) gets along with Cyd and Cliff ( the other outside kitty) Moose gets along with no one :( I hate to say it but Moose has been given 2 weeks to shape up or he's going back to the agency we adopted him
from :( Breaks my heart but after 3 months I'm at my wits end with him.

My wish for all my quilting friends is that we all have more finishes than new ufos this coming year. I have another quilt on the frame but today though a nice warm day to quilt in the garage was better spent sewing indoors so I could watching the Winter Classic on and off with my men of the house.

2 1/2" Squares and then some.....

I've been trying to clean up the fabric- as fast as I seem to cut it up into usable stuff we find MORE - gasp!!! Last night I made a half dozen pinwheels going in 2 different direction and 10 16 patch block for Bonnie's Quilt. Makes a great leader/ender project.

This morning I tried again to close one of the drawers for the 2 1/2" squares- wasn't happening :( So I opened the pds of Grandma Cora...remember last week when I made the small center? I knew it wasn't what I wanted, so now I have that started too :( But I think it will make a cute wall hanging over the bed when I get the queensized one done also ...dontcha think so too???

Ghost Hunters is on, so I guess I'll try and finish another row of the scrappy mountain majesties tonight ...night

those 2 1/2" squares strike again......

I finally started my grandma cora quilt from one of the yahoo groups this summer. I had all the setting triangles cut already in candy blue kona and showed hubby the finished quilt in the directions. While he likes the baby blue for the triangles he thinks the borders that will be in the quilt need to be darker....so....what am I supposed to do??? Go find a darker blue fabric in the stash tomorrow and see if I have enough - even if it needs to be 2 different dark blues. But I finished the center tonight and will work on the big corners this week along with the 10 other projects I have going. Problem is it finishes 96" :( too big for my frame so I guess I'll have to save my quarters and mail it to Mel ( ready Mel-lol) See I want the bins to close better and I see that others have them so neatly in the boxes or drawers they're stored in and quite frankly I have to many to do that to :(
So I have to use them up so I can sort them NEATLY AFTER the holidays

So here's my spoiled Moose- it was a cold windy day here today. And I have double pane windows so I don't know why he didn't want to sleep on his perch...he's so spoiled-lol
